The Stops We Leave Behind

At the end of a night shift, Simone Baptiste wants the familiar journey home. Instead, she finds a red double-decker whose destination display contains a single word: HOME.
The route passes cinemas that closed decades ago, houses replaced by glass frontages and rooms their former occupants cannot leave behind. Its passengers carry unfinished apologies, small possessions and memories that have become harder to put down than luggage. Its conductor always knows someone else who needs a favour.
Simone is used to answering calls for help. But on this bus, agreeing to one more task can cost a person the life waiting outside. And beneath the engine’s familiar sound is a voice connected to the brother who vanished nine years earlier.
The Night Bus Home is a London supernatural mystery with a Caribbean family at its heart: a series about grief, obligation and the difference between accompanying someone and becoming responsible for their entire journey.
