Short story
Auntie’s Plus One
The Family Version
Three paid gatherings turn into real attraction, an engagement rumour, and a joint birthday neither family can attend under the old story.
About this story
For sixty pounds an occasion, Ravi can deflect Aunt Cynthia, charm Danielle's mother, and make a photograph look comfortably romantic. He cannot speak fluent French, explain two identical christening gifts, or keep both families from comparing their versions.
When an unpaid meeting becomes a kiss, the arrangement needs a different ending. The Family Version follows eight comic episodes from the first bargain to a joint birthday and a proper date. The original deception is disclosed, the unused advance is returned, and Danielle must learn that asking for a boundary can be more effective than hiring someone to stand beside it.
