A Place at the Table

Pearl Baptiste has spent twenty-three years making sure other people get dinner. Now her restaurant has a four-week decision deadline, a stove that cannot keep up, and a daughter interviewing for a job with regular hours.

Pearl's answer is to work harder. The people at her free evening table complicate that plan: a father trying to keep a promise, a widow with a borrowed dress, a care worker racing to a rehearsal, and a regular who can pay for everything except company.

A sponsored film offers money at an uncomfortable price. A preordered Sunday lunch looks like a fresh start until Pearl begins saying yes to everyone again. To keep the restaurant she loves, she will have to make changes that no recipe can decide for her.

Eight connected episodes, each with its own three-act story, build toward a complete first-season resolution.
