After the Last Ferry

Tomas Rolle knows the channel between Mercy Cay and Bellweather: the shoals, the lights, the price of fuel. After the public ferry stops running, a late private fare can make the difference between keeping his boat working and borrowing from his sister again. But some passengers pay in broken jewellery and lost possessions. Some remember landings that no longer exist. And some cannot travel while the sun is up. As Tomas learns what his small boat can carry, each crossing brings an urgent request, an encounter with the drowned and a cost that follows him home. Set around fictional Bahamian islands, After the Last Ferry combines close-quarters maritime suspense with an original supernatural mythology and the difficult work of keeping faith with the living.
