Wrong Floor

Imani Cruz knows the Calder Building by the stains nobody else notices. She works through the night, pays what she can, and tries to give her daughter enough room to become someone of her own. Then the service elevator opens onto a floor the building does not have. Beyond its doors are other Calders: warm and prosperous, damaged and abandoned, occupied by people who might have been her. A small borrowed object can make one of those places real at home. It can also send an ordinary room, and anyone inside it, somewhere else. Wrong Floor is a speculative thriller about dangerous shortcuts, the lives that seem available through a doorway, and a mother and daughter forced to navigate the consequences together. Its first season delivers a complete rescue and room-restoration story while leaving the wider alternate worlds open to future seasons.
